
Emma is a Queer playwright and author living and working in Manchester. With a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of St Andrews, Emma focus on historical narratives, female voices, and Queer stories. Emma’s debut novel, The Knowing, is an exploration of female trauma in the vivid and cruel world of the Victorian freak show and is available through Bedford Square Publishing. Emma’s second novel, The Quick and the Dead, is an exciting dive in the world of queer Tudor alchemy is also available through Bedford Square Publishing. In 2025, Emma will be publishing her debut YA fantasy novel, Witchlore, a story about teenage shapeshifters and witches in Manchester.
Emma is also the author of The Heir to the House of Prince fanfic series, which currently stands at over a million words and over a million views on Ao3.
In a playwriting capacity, Emma’s play, PURE, an exposing account of purity culture in Christian evangelicalism, was featured in Turn On festival at Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester. Emma was the recipient of the Artist Development grant at Hope Mill Theatre.
Emma has written a few previous non-fiction books in the capacity as an academic (Emma initially explored becoming a theologian) with an essay published, Tarantino and Theology; with Gray Matter Books and the book, Ineffable Love: Christian Themes in Good Omens; published by Darton Longman Todd. Emma uses she/they pronouns.
